DAN HALL MOUNTAIN RESORT & C.C.
(OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, 7 DAYS A WEEK !)

In 1962, the land was purchased from Banner Coal
Company, Inc., by Joe c and Anne Kilgore. The mountain top
was forest land with tall trees and rock cliffs. In the spring
of 1963, the trees were cut where the fairways would be
places and dozer work began covering the cliffs and rocks.
By the fall of 1963, a large portion of the clearing had taken
place. The fairways were "hand raked" by high school boys
that lived at the bottom of the mountain and hand seeded. In
the spring of 1964, the greens were seeded and work
continued on burning brush and building the clubhouse.

On May 15, 1965, Dan Hall Mountain opened under the name
of Highlands Farm and Country Club. Several years the
name was changed to Dan Hall Mountain Resort.

The course is a hilly, challenging course with narrow
fairways and plenty of trees to mark the outline of the
fairways.
